A vintage reprint of the movie poster for ''The Adventures of Marco Polo'', a 1938 American adventure film directed by Archie Mayo and starring Gary Cooper in the title role of the famous Venetian explorer Marco Polo. The film is a fictionalized account of Polo's travels along the Silk Road to China during the 13th century.
In "The Adventures of Marco Polo," Gary Cooper plays Marco Polo, who embarks on a journey to the East, eventually arriving at the court of the Mongol Emperor Kublai Khan, portrayed by Basil Rathbone. Polo becomes an emissary for the Khan and plays a key role in diplomatic relations between the Mongol Empire and Europe. The film explores Polo's adventures, including his encounters with various cultures, battles, and his romantic involvement with a Mongol princess, played by Sigrid Gurie.
